Welcome back to be you and be real for another episode of Monday motivation. This week I'm talking about consistency. This has been coming up a lot in the conversations that I've been having, and so I want to dive into that. And I want to read a quote by Michael Hyatt. And this is an abbreviated version, but it says consistency is better than perfection. You know, a lot of the conversations I've been having and looking back at my real estate career and the different businesses that I've been a part of one thing has been a pretty common theme is that when people decide to do something, they get really excited, and they get Go, go, go, go go, and they have a dream, and they have a desire to get out there. And then all of a sudden, before they actually take any action, they want to be perfect, right? They want to look good, they want to be right, and they want everything around them to appear as such. And I've seen this time and time again, especially in the real estate space, where people will naturally start to do that, and then they end up freezing. And because they're not taking action, and they're not taking that first step, what ends up happening is that they end up leaving the business or they get discouraged, or they end up walking away. And so my my, my challenge as I as I looked at this, the the conversations around consistency this week was was what do we need to do? Like, where do we begin with consistency, and it starts with action. And we have to get over the idea of perfectionism. Because nobody is perfect. We've got to be able to, to get past that. And they have a simple plan of attack or plan of action to move us forward. You know, I look at a baby, you know, somebody who's just getting started, right? Maybe they're crawling, and then there may be taken their first step, that first step is not a pretty step, and most of the time it leads to failing, or falling. And so often we see that same thing in business, too, right? We start something and we attempt something and we try something. And at the end of the day, we may stumble and fall, but it's about how we get back up. How are we showing up consistently? Personally, I look at this last year, right? Starting the other podcast, the broker to broker real estate podcast, I started that in August of 2020. Right, I looked at that I was like, this is the time I want to do this. And, and I was I was sure because I'd studied and learned and studied and learned Oh, and time and time again, what I kept hearing was you have to be consistent with whatever you decide to do if you're going to be doing a podcast and you're not going to get the immediate results that you desire to have happen. You've got to show up and more importantly than anything else over over content or, or quality of recording, you've got to be consistent. And so I made that commitment to myself and I was like I am going to be consistent. And you know what happened, I failed. I failed, because I allowed myself to get taken off the ball like my eye off the ball as far as that consistent action that I had set out for myself and, and which was which was okay, right? I allowed myself that. But what I saw is because I took my foot off the gas, the results didn't end up happening as quickly as I wanted to. So there was some discouragement, but when I looked at it, what I learned is that I needed to get back to it. And so I got back up, I got back up and I learned from the lessons and the things that got in the way of me being consistent and taking action on a regular basis to make sure episodes were were produced and and also the the quality was there as well as the the interviews that I was doing. And so I wanted to challenge everybody today as we talk about consistency is what's your plan of attack. Because mine as I jump back on, on the wagon of consistency, I started seeing results. And I was so excited because last week, two big things happen. You know, the first one that that podcast actually went worldwide, we hit all seven continents as far as the the episode dropping, and actually being able to be downloaded on all over the world, which was exciting. And last week was the biggest week ever of downloads that we've ever had. You know, and it was just it's just that consistent thing. And with time on task, the results came. And it also had me thinking about how often do we do something and we do it and do it and do it and put our heart and soul into the activity or into the desired outcome. And right before those results are going to happen we take our foot off the gas or we decide to quit. Don't let that happen. Show up. Be consistent. Don't take your foot off the gas and take action. It may not be pretty, it may be ugly, but show up and do it anyways. And you'll look back at the time and I look back at the episodes that I recorded the very beginning. And oh man, oh man, they were not pretty and I'm still learning. And every day, you'll continue to learn as well. So, put a plan of attack, put a plan of action in place so that you can show up consistently and no matter what you do, whether it's your business, whether it's your life, have some consistency, and have a plan. Thank you for attending this episode of Monday motivation as we dive into the word consistency. Don't be perfect. Just take action. Always remember, be you and be real.
